No. Ductless mini split systems require no ductwork at all, just a small hole in the wall for the refrigerant line. They are an excellent option for older New England homes that were built without ducts.
Sizing depends on your home's square footage, insulation, ceiling height, window placement, and other factors. An undersized system will not cool effectively; an oversized one will short-cycle and waste energy. We do proper Manual J load calculations to size your system correctly.
